MODEL LANCASTER
Follow my progress in building a 1:32 scale Lancaster B1 MK1 Heavy Bomber model, made from wood and metal, from Hatchette Partworks. I will put more photos up as and when I make progress with the model

Weeks 1 -
10
Week 1
This is the nose section. The plastic clear strips are known as ‘stringers’, and help form the shape of the nose.
Week 2
Constructing the first section part of the left outboard wing. Also included in this issue was a metal propeller and spinner.
Week 3
Finish constructing the first section part of the left outboard wing. Also the stringers were glued over the wing.
Week 4
Started construction on the cabin, and also the pilots seat was made. This will all be painted at a later date.
Week 5
Finished constructing the cabin structure. The seat for the flight engineer and navigator was also built.
Week 6
1 of 4 engines. Came in 16 pieces, made from aluminium, had to paint it black and scrape away certain parts back to the metal.
Week 7
Carrying on from Week 3, the wing tip was bent to follow curve of wing, and glued in position.
Week 8
Console levers and main console box built and painted, finished all the stringers from Week 4, and sprayed black.
Week 9
More construction of the fusalage, and pilots, navigator and mechanics seats were painted.
Week 10
Started on the main fuselage spar, and ribs for the fuel tanks.
